The new McMorrow mystery, HARD LINE, is coming June 11. This will be the last McMorrow for the time being, so I hope you enjoy this finale with Jack and Clair, Roxanne and Sophie. McMorrow puts it all on the line in this one. So did I.
HARD LINE is a sequel to ROBBED BLIND. Jack has been shot, left bleeding in the snow. Zombie, the serial robber who confounds a city, is still at large. Louis and Clair have retrieved Marta from Montreal, drawing the wrath of the biker gang that had been holding her captive. And Sophie’s best friend’s mom is embroiled in a domestic battle that McMorrow can’t resist.
HARD LINE is the novel in which McMorrow and Clair, and their buddy Louis, try to come to terms with what they’ve done, what they are doing. Why the relentless confrontation with bad people? Why keep putting family and friends at risk? What have they accomplished and at what cost?
This story also forced me to consider all of these questions, of course. I’ve been riding along with McMorrow and friends for more than 30 years. We’ve grown up together, seen our lives change in parallel. HARD LINE was time to sum it all up, as we both asked what it has all been for.
I hope you enjoy this one. It’s full-blast action, with pauses for reflection, when the smoke clears. There’s no guarantee that everyone will make it. After all, Jack and friends have rolled the dice so many times and lived to fight another day. There comes a time when the odds work against you.
